Under review: JBG’s Wal-Mart-anchored, Fort Totten project

The JBG Cos. has filed its large-tract review application for the company’s Wal-Mart-anchored development in the District’s Fort Totten area. With what it calls “one cohesive approach” to design, the developer expects that Fort Totten Square “will energize the neighborhood and signal a new vitality at the property.”

That property, right now, is vacant.

The project is expected to include 350 apartments, 130,000 square feet of retail and 775 parking spaces on 4.62 acres at 300-320 Riggs Road NE. The four-story apartment building will sit above the one floor of retail. JBG, operating as Fort Totten North LLC, said it aims to create “an active streetscape on Riggs Road.”
